Everyone has their own taste, but after sampling almost all restaurants on Disney property, I can say that these five are my absolute favorite places to grab dinner!
5. Sanaa (Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge)
It is a little funny to me that this restaurant is even on my list considering the first time I ate here, I hated it. There was nothing “wrong” with the food – it was just that in my somewhat sheltered Midwest upbringing, I had never tried African-inspired food. It is now a place that I often crave because the flavors are so unique. The Indian-style Bread Service is so fun to eat as you get a sampling of five different breads and nine different sauces (mild, spicy & everything in between). I should really branch out more but I am in LOVE with their Butter Chicken and I get it every time!
4. Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ (Disney Springs)
In my opinion, this place is a total hidden gem on property. If you love classic southern comfort food – this is your place. Chef Art was Oprah’s personal chef for some time and all I can say is I have never been more jealous of Oprah. The Fried Chicken here is awesome, the Mac & Cheese is mouth-watering, the Moonshine drinks are delicious, and you MUST get the Hummingbird Cake for dessert. I don’t care how full I am…I will always order Hummingbird Cake. It is just THAT good.
3. ‘Ohana (Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort)
Maybe I’m a little biased because I worked at the Polynesian during my Disney College Program, but ‘Ohana is one of the yummiest dinners around. Endless potstickers, noodles, steak, chicken & shrimp…what more could your heart desire? A view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks? Oh yes, they have that too! If I know I am going to be eating here for dinner I usually fast for most of the day. Make sure to pace yourself and/or wear your stretchy pants so you can indulge in the bread pudding at the end – you don’t want to miss out!
2. Yachtsman’s Steakhouse (Disney’s Yacht Club Resort)
Once upon a time when I was a teenager, my Dad brought me and my sisters to this restaurant because we needed to use our Disney Dining Plan and we were staying at Disney’s Beach Club Resort. At the time, this was the fanciest restaurant I had ever been to. I was in love with the wonderful experience we had, and it has been one of my favorite places ever since. My favorites here are the Ribeye Steak, Potato-Leek Gratin (to DIE for), and the Banana Bread Pudding.
1. California Grill (Disney’s Contemporary Resort)
This place is my #1 for three very good reasons…the food is consistently delicious, the service is outstanding, and the view is incredible. Although their menu changes every so often, my favorites here are the California Combination Roll, Oak-fired Filet of Beef, and the Warm Valrhona Chocolate Cake (my favorite chocolate dessert in the world). Make sure to book your reservation early so you can eat during the Magic Kingdom fireworks! You will be amazed!
